San Leandro's Glenn Donaire continued his comeback with his second consecutive victory, a 12-round unanimous decision over Omar Salado at Mexico City's Auditorio Plaza Condesa Friday night.

Donaire (19-4-1, 10 KOs) annexed a regional junior bantamweight title in the process and was dominant in the early going.  The Filipino-American gave his foe numerous angles and counted on a left hook to the body followed by an accurate right hand upstairs to build an early lead.

However, Salado (23-5-2, 14 KOs) would not wilt, pressing forward in an attempt to lure Donaire to bring the fight to the inside.  The Tijuana native's late-round rush would get him back in the bout, but despite Donaire showing signs of slowing down in the last two rounds, it was not enough for Salado to win.

Scores were 116-112, 115-113, and 118-111, an impressive tally given that Donaire was traveling to Salado's home country.  Norcalboxing.net also saw it 116-112.

The East Bay fighter had an excellent training camp at San Leandro's Kennel Boxing Club with his father and trainer, Nonito Sr.  He logged sparring rounds with Gary Shaw-signed prospect Jundy Maraon, former Philippine bantamweight champ Glenn Porras, and Olympic Trials winner Eros Correa of San Jose.

Team Donaire will now await the WBC's next rankings, as they have been optimistic that a win Friday would put Glenn in the top 15 among their 115-pounders.  Such a jump would definitely be a welcome sign of progress for "Boyet," who put his gloves away for three years to work full-time as a delivery truck driver to support his wife and two children.

The action was televised by Telemundo.
