CSN Spotlight of the Week: New-Look Julaton Takes Aim at Marcos

Taking a line from Peter Finch in the film Network, Ana Julaton’s mad as hell, and she’s not going to take it anymore.

“I’m sick of all these fighters getting a chance on TV when they don’t even fill up the stands,” she told CSNBayArea.com before this Friday’s matchup with Yesica Marcos in San Martin, Argentina.  “I’m a fan of Guillermo Rigondeaux, but there were more people at my fight against Kelsey Jeffries without any TV backing than there were for his world title fight, and he gets the shot on TV. He gets the shot. This is where I’m at right now.”

In the past, her “Hurricane” nickname was emblematic of her whirlwind fighting style, not her demeanor. Not today.

Her long, black hair is highlighted by flashy, golden braids. The signature smile remains, but now it’s accompanied by an outspoken voice, and frustration about her inability to secure a major cable event on American TV.

“I need to blast my opponents,” Julaton said.  “I need to kick the (obscenity) out of them, wake some (obscenity) up and say, ‘Hey, you know what? She’s more exciting than this dude.’  They need to put me on TV because I can fight way better than they do. And Marcos, she’s my stepping stone. She’s what’s in the way of me getting where I need to be because this is my career.
