NorCal Amateur Spotlight: Four Local Shows This Weekend

• The L.A. Boxing Club in Brentwood (above) will put on the St. Patrick Day’s Challenge starting at 2 p.m.  The gym's address is 8650 Brentwood Blvd.  Contact Joseph Garcia at (925) 813-0382 or cococountry925@gmail.com for more information.

"It's a USA Boxing sanctioned event," Garcia said.  "We're going to have 12 fights in all.  L.A. Boxing, Old School Boxing, CYC, Double Punches, and several other clubs will be participating."

Ben Delgado, the former trainer of Manny Pacquiao, will make a cameo, along with Nevada fight manager Barbara Manos, and United Combat Association President Tom Gaffney.  VIP tickets are sold out, and the remaining tickets are $20.  They can be purchased at bgpromo.eventbee.com.

• The Rock Boxing Gym in Salinas, located on 285 E. Alisal Rd., will also hold an amateur show at 1 p.m. on Saturday.  The contact info man James Jimenez at (831) 206-6644.

• The University of California, Berkeley, will be holding a show at the Recreational Sports Facility (RSF) at 7 p.m.  UC Davis is among the schools scheduled to compete against Cal.  Tickets can be purchased at the door.  The RSF is located on Bancroft Way between Dana and Ellsworth.
