S.F.'s Karim “Hard Hitta” Mayfield will
take on
fellow unbeaten 140-pounder Raymond Serrano of Philadelphia on the May
18 edition
of ESPN2 Friday Night Fights. The bout will be Mayfield’s first defense
of his
NABO jr. welterweight regional belt and will take place at the Times
Union
Center in Albany, N.Y.
The Fillmore native was originally slated to face Prenice Brewer on April 27 but negotiations and the TV date fell through.
Mayfield will also be adding BWAA Trainer of the Year Virgil Hunter to his corner.
"Virgil Hunter, who's one of the best trainers in the world, will be working my corner," Mayfield said in a press release.
"He's guided me to victory before and I know together, we'll come up
with a masterful game plan."
