The third day of competition at the USA Boxing National Championships from Fort Carson, Colo., was much kinder to our local fighters on the scoreboard as NorCal and Central Cal fighters went a combined 12-2 with two stoppages on Tuesday.
The three seeded fighters in the group went 2-1, with the top-ranked pair of LaRon Mitchell of San Francisco (201+ lbs.) and Avenal's Jose Ramirez (132 lbs.) moving on in the tournament. No. 2 middleweight Edgar Alvarado of San Bernardino (165 lbs.) was upset on the cards.
