North Salinas' Alejandro Perez KOs Wilson in 8

Alejandro Perez got back on track with a knockout of Derrick Wilson Saturday. (Liz Hernandez)

Last night on TeleFutura's Solo Boxeo Tecate, North Salinas' Alejandro "El Alacrán" (The Scorpion) Perez returned to both the featherweight division and the win column with an eighth-round knockout of Derrick Wilson at Anaheim's Club Phoenix.

Wilson found himself on the canvas four times courtesy of some massive shots from Perez, but would recover just enough each time to get back on his feet and continue. Ultimately however, referee Ray Corona would halt the bout at 0:27 of the eighth after another right hand bomb from Perez found the target.

Perez (16-3-1, 11KOs) will stay at 126 pounds as he bounced back from a decision loss to junior lightweight Diego Magdaleno on ShoBox last year. Wilson (9-3-2, 2 KOs), out of Fort Myers, Fla., will go back to the drawing board after a promising upset of Charles Huerta in 2009.
