Novato's Jonathan Alcantara is back in action on May 11 against fellow featherweight Walter Sarnoi at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, Calif., per matchmaker Edward Rodriquez.

The 23-year-old Alcantara (5-7-2, 1 KO), has one of the most deceiving records in boxing, having faced undefeated fighters in nine out of his last 10 bouts.  Some of those names include hot prospects Jonathan Arellano, Jesse Magdaleno, Bruno Escalante, and Efrain Esquivias, all of whom were taken the distance.

Most recently, Alcantara opened 2012 by knocking out Esteban Nichol in Las Vegas in a historic fight was broadcast on ESPN 3-D.  Unfortunately, he was unable to build on that momentum in March, dropping a decision to unbeaten Luis Rosa in New York City.

Sarnoi (10-2, 5 KOs), from Monterey Park, Calif., was featured on Ring Magazine's website by Ryan Songalia before his last outing in January, a unanimous decision victory over Jose Angel Cota.

Rodriquez also informed Norcalboxing.net that Richmond's Luis Alfredo Lugo has a junior welterweight bout lined up for May 17 in Irvine, Calif., against Jermaine White.

Like Alcantara, Lugo (12-17-1, 5 KOs) has taken on a host of fighters with unblemished records at the time of their meeting.  Among the thorns on this gauntlet include future world champions Adrien Broner and Danny Garcia, as well as prospect-turned-contender Mike Dallas Jr.

Meanwhile, White (17-4, 9 KOs), who hails from Chicago via Gary, Ind., has not fought in three years but has shared a ring with current middleweight beltholder Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and former lightweight titlist Paul Spadafora, both losses.
