Northern and Central California fighters enjoyed an unbeaten afternoon at the Long Beach Hilton, winning all four of their scheduled semifinal bouts.  A pair of Fresno fighters--Efren "Chico" Lopez (123 lbs. J.O.) and Luis Ambrosio (123 lbs. Open)--advanced, as well as San Jose's Andy Vences (132 lbs. Open) and Bakersfield's Daniel Valdivia (165 lbs. Open).

"I felt really good today," Vences said.  "I scored two standing eights in the last round against my opponent, and I'm ready for the final tomorrow against Jousce Gonzalez."

The four men will be joined in the finals by two women, Marisol Lopez (106 lbs. J.O.) and Shanne Ruelas (125 lbs. Open), who received an automatic pass to Saturday's championship clashes.  A formal tryout with the Mexican national team hangs in the balance.

Special thanks to CCA president Armando Mancinas for supplying the results all the way from Southern California.
