Ava "The Lady of Boxing" Knight (8-1-3, 5 KOs) successfully defended her IBF flyweight title for the first time with a 10th-round stoppage of Thailand's Hongfah Tor Buamas (15-5, 2 KOs) at the Gimnasio Auditorio in Los Cabos, Mexico.

"[Tor Buamas] is so tough," said the Chico native who trains in San Francisco. "I ripped her to the body and she was hurt numerous times, but she wouldn't go down. I give her all the credit in the world, and I thank her to the fullest for taking that fight. I'm glad she said she wasn't scared, because if she was, it wouldn't have been no fight."

Knight's trainer Ben Bautista hinted that they would pursue unification bouts with 112-pound champs Mariana Juarez of Mexico (WBC) and Susi Kentikian of Germany (WBA/WBO), or even a rematch with HG Boxing stablemate Ana Maria Torres, the 115-pound WBC titlist who is regarded by many as the top female pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
