The second day of results at the Junior Olympic National Championships in Mobile, Alabama, yielded four victories for Region 11 over seven bouts, all decisions. Wednesday's winners moved on and the losers were eliminated, capping a successful run through local and regional J.O.'s.
Conrad Rendon of Aleman B.C. in Fresno dropped a 17-12 battle to Miami's Daniel Bailey in the 101-pound division.
Fresno PAL's Isidro Ochoa moved on with a 13-6 win over Osualdo Hernandez of Phoenix, Ariz in 110-pound action.
Salinas 114-pounder Ruben "Dracula" Villa of Back Yard B.C. cruised to an 18-7 triumph over Norwalk's Victor Vela.
In a 119-pound affair, Efren Lopez of Fresno's Main Event B.C. beat Gary Antonio Russell of Capitol Heights, Md., 25-15.
George Acosta captured a clash of 132-pound Californians, as the Santa Fe Springs native outpointed San Jose PAL's Rosino Lega, 19-10.
Jose Gomez of Concord CYC fell in the 138-pound division to Anthony Rodriguez of Humble, Tex.
Gilbert Alvarez, a 165-pounder from Oakland Boxing, outfought Jacob Harper of Frazersburg, Ohio, in a 22-18 victory.
