Ward will be back. The question is when? (US Presswire)
Super middleweight champion Andre Ward’s promoter Dan Goossen has informed BoxingScene.com that his fighter will not need surgery after injuring his right shoulder in training.
“He had an MRI that revealed no damage and no tears,” Goossen said.
Ward (26-0, 14 KOs) was scheduled to fight former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (40-2, 34 KOs) in an HBO-televised event on Jan. 26 at the Galen Center in Los Angeles. An earlier report had the fight being moved to Feb. 23, but Goossen denied that date was set in stone.
“Nothing has been confirmed yet,” Goossen said. “We’re rescheduling it as we speak, and we’re looking at our options right now. I want Santa to bring me a good date.”
