ONTARIO, Calif. – Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero can put his megaphone away for now.  After defeating Andre Berto by unanimous decision Saturday night, the message resonated loud and clear.  He belongs with the elite fighters in the world.

In a good old-fashioned streetfight that was contested mainly on the inside, the pride of Gilroy successfully defended his WBC welterweight interim belt front of 4,765 spectators at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

“My dad [Ruben] wanted me to work my jab in the first few rounds, but I wanted to punish [Berto],” Guerrero said.  “[Berto] said he was looking forward to an execution.  It was time to put up or shut up, and that’s what I did.”
